The JECS trust was formally set up in December 2007 to oversee the expenditure of monies passed on to the European Ceramic Society (ECerS) annually by the Elsevier publishing house. _ In recognition that the ECerS name has made a significant contribution towards the current success of the _ To maintain and build on the current strong position of the Journal _To ensure that these funds were not used in any way contrary to Journal interests _To enable ECerS to engage in a broader range of activities than previously possible, of mutual benefit to both ECerS and Elsevier.
GENERAL INFORMATION FOR APPLICANTS TO THE JECS TRUST: _Consider the bids, and if successful, will agree the appropriate funds to be allocated. _Make recommendations to the Trust at their 6-monthly meetings as regards the proposals that should be funded. Provided the above conditions are met, the Trust would normally approve the PEC recommendations.
In all cases, the decisions of the PEC and JECS trust shall be final. _Events linked either to the biennial symposia or held at other times of the year aimed at student/young researcher participation (for example summer workshops) _Funded visits by individual researchers to laboratories within Europe for the purposes of acquiring skills/learning new techniques or accessing equipment not available in their own laboratories. _Themed workshops put on either as part of the biennial symposia or at other times in between. An example of these might be Topical networks focused on a specific (probably novel) subject area. For all such meetings, Elsevier would have a strong interest in hearing plans for publication.
