Letter from Hermina Hudelja - PhD student who got the “Grant for 2020 American Winter Workshop”
In January 2020, thanks to JECS Trust, I had the opportunity and pleasure to attend ACerS Winter workshop 2020 organized in the scope of 44th International Conference and Expo on Advanced Ceramics and Composites held in Daytona Beach, Florida, USA.
The emphasis was on more lectures for soft skills development and events, such as student and young professionals’ mixer, career development roundtable discussion, working in a foreign culture and others.
I would recommend this workshop to all young researchers from the ceramic community and beyond, since it provides unique improvements not only in the sense of broader knowledge about ceramics, but also for personal development and networking, which are equally important. The workshop was an ideal opportunity to form new contacts with people just starting their research careers and with already established researchers, which were nurtured every evening with “mandatory” drinks in the local pubs.
JECS Trust`s travel grant not only enabled my participation to this wonderful workshop, but it also covered the cost of my trip and workshop registration fee, for which I am very grateful.
