Postdoctoral Research Position in Additive Manufacturing of Ceramics @ Georgia Tech (USA)

Immediate opening for a postdoctoral researcher with experience in ceramic processing to conduct research in “single-step” processes for 3D printing of ceramics.

This research program is funded for multiple years through ONR and seeks fundamental studies of new chemistries and processes to fabricate fully sintered ceramic components in an additive manufacturing paradigm without the need for a post-process, high-temperature anneal. Material and application scope is extremely broad; effort is intended to be focused on fundamental studies of the materials chemistry and processes to achieve rapid sintering. The larger research program supports multiple interdisciplinary research groups, with other researchers having expertise in computational predictions and 3D printing.

The person in this position will be specifically focused on powder processing, surface chemistry modification, and single- / multi-layer sintering behavior. Various energy sources are expected to be explored to achieve project goals, including flash lamp annealing and atmospheric plasmas. Postdoctoral researcher will also be asked to assist with research reporting and advisement of a Ph.D. student who will also be hired for this program.

Interested researchers should contact and send a CV to Prof. Mark Losego: losego@gatech.edu
