I am a PhD student in the Doctoral School of the Warsaw University of Technology and I conduct my scientific research in the Department of Chemical Technology, which is a part of the Faculty of Chemistry. I have successfully completed both Engineer's and Master's Degrees in Chemical Technology. I am conducting my PhD research under the supervision of Professor Paulina Wiecinska. Since 2020, I am a member of the Polish Ceramic Society.

The aim of my PhD research is to obtain ceramic-metal composites by using traditional colloidal processing methods (slip casting, gelcasting, tape casting) as well as additive manufacturing techniques (e.g. DLP – Digital Light Processing, DIW – Direct Ink Writing). My research is focused on ceramic-metal nanocomposites in which the matrix is alumina or zirconia. The metallic phase is molybdenum or nickel, introduced into ceramic dispersions in the form of salts - molybdenyl acetylacetonate or nickel acetylacetonate. These compounds decompose into metallic nanoparticles during the sintering process in an Ar/H2 atmosphere. Introducing metallic particles into the ceramic matrix can increase fracture toughness, bending strength of the material, thermal conductivity and resistance to thermal shock. These materials can find applications in anti-corrosion covers, construction material in nuclear power plants or cutting tools with increased durability.

An important step in my research is to find proper organic additives (including monomers, polymeric binders, dispersing agents, and initiators of polymerization) that will allow to obtain colloidal suspensions with appropriate rheological properties. I also optimize 3D printing parameters (such as UV exposure time and single-layer height). Obtained samples are characterized in terms of hardness, fracture toughness, density and mechanical strength. I also perform thermal analysis of the samples and substrates with the use of thermogravimetry coupled with mass spectroscopy and microstructure analysis using scanning electron microscope. I compare the results for samples obtained by 3D printing with analogous samples obtained by traditional colloidal processing methods.

I had an opportunity to gain scientific experience during a 3-month internship at the National Institute for Material Science in Tsukuba (Japan), which was a part of the NIMS Internship Program. Thanks to the support of the Warsaw University of Technology and the JECS Trust, I had a chance to attend several international conferences organized by ECERS i.e. Shaping 8 in Zurich (2022), ECERS Conference in Lyon (2023) and CYSC in Serbia (2021 & 2023) where I had the chance to meet a lot of very friendly and charismatic people from the YCN community. I am thrilled and honoured to become the Polish YCN Representative.
