ECerS help for Ukrainian Ceramists

In March 2022, the European Ceramic Society and its foundation, the JECS Trust, decided to help the Ukrainian colleagues.

Although only a small gesture, ECerS offers a zero-fee individual membership to Ukrainian ceramic scientists and students for 2022 and 2023: in 2022, 22 Ukrainians colleagues asked for and obtained this free membership that will be renewed automatically in 2023.

Specific support from the JECS Trust is also planned to assist as much as we can: in 2022, the JECS Trust agreed to support the 2 Ukrainians who asked for mobilty projects. One went for 6 months (contract of 3 months extended for another 3 months) in a laboratory in Faenza, Italy, the other will go for 3 months in a laboratory in Dijon, France, in January 2023.

A list of laboratories willing to welcome Ukrainian colleagues is available here.

JECS Trust also allowed travel grants as well as free registration to 2 Ukrainian students to help them attend the 2022 ECerS Summer School “Fundamentals and Advanced Technologies of Sintering” that was organised by ECerS in July 2022 in Krakow, Poland. Another travel grant was also given by the JECS Trust to an Ukrainian Student to allow her to attend the Shaping 8 Conference that was held in September 2022 in Zurich, Switzerland.
