YCN Newsletter 27 - yCAM 2025 in focus from a participant's point of view - Soufiane Satha
YCAM 2025 in Toulouse was one of those events that leave you both exhausted and completely recharged at the same time. Over three packed days, I experienced a dynamic mix of cutting-edge research, engaging discussions, and an atmosphere that reminded me just how fortunate I am to be part of this vibrant community.
I had the opportunity to present a poster on the development of BaTiO₃-loaded thermoplastic filaments, highlighting aspects of manufacturing, printability, post-processing, and the resulting piezoelectric properties. The response was incredibly rewarding; attendees were genuinely curious and offered insightful questions and feedback. Their engagement helped me see my work from new perspectives, which is one of the most valuable outcomes of sharing research in a space like this.
Nevertheless, it wasn’t just about the science. One of my favorite moments was the guided city tour of Toulouse, walking through the pink city “la ville Rose”, hearing the stories and history of the city, was a welcome change of pace and made the experience feel even more special. And the gala dinner? Pure fun. Between the games, laughter, and friendly vibes, it was a perfect way to relax and connect with colleagues in a more informal setting.
What stood out the most for me, though, was the people. I got to meet researchers working in this exciting field, which is exactly where I want to grow. Those conversations were motivating and opened the door to future collaborations, and that’s something I’ll take with me long after the conference.
A heartfelt thank you to the organizing team for creating such a well-rounded, inspiring event. YCAM 2025 was brilliantly executed, and I’m already looking forward to the next edition. See you in Ljubljana!

Why Crystal Structure Matters: Decoding the Performance of Calcium Phosphate Biomaterials
In the world of calcium phosphate biomaterials, crystal structure is often the silent driver behind a material’s success—or failure. Whether we are developing bone graft substitutes or studying bioceramic interactions at the tissue interface, understanding the underlying crystal lattice isn’t just helpful—it’s essential.
