Research topics :

  • CerAMake: development of a flexible binder jetting machine for higher end manufacturing of technical and non-technical ceramics.
  • Low cost additive manufacturing of technical ceramics: Improving the use of low-cost stereolithography to manufacture high quality ceramic parts at a rate afford to SMEs.
  • Additive manufacturing of foundry filters: Demonstrating the use of ceramic binder jetting to improve flow characteristics and reduce oxidation in use as foundry filters, with design process optimisation.
  • Non-destructive testing of additive manufactured ceramics: Ceramics produced by AM checked for consistency of dimensional tolerances and internal surface metrology.
  • Additive manufacturing of casting cores: Additive manufacturing process developed for leachable casting cores.
  • Heat treatment optimisation for additive manufactured ceramics: Optimisation of curing, binder removal and sintering to improve the engineering properties of low-cost additively manufactured ceramics.
  • Nanoparticle jetting to additive manufacture ceramics: Fabrication of dense, highly complex alumina and zirconia parts for advanced engineering use.
  • HIP and CIP for 3D Printing: Hot and cold isostatic pressing of highly complex additive manufactured parts
  • ASTM benchmarking: Contribution to standard development and guidelines.
