Research topics :

  • Thermo-mechanical characterisation of advanced refractories: thermo-mechanical characterization of cement-free corundum spinel (Al2O3-MgAl2O4) castables and other oxides-based refractories, i.e.
Refractoriness Under Load (RUL) / Creep in Compression (CIC).
  • Hydraulically-bonded monolithic refractories: chemistry of calcium aluminate cements (CACs) and castables, synthesis of new type of clinker compounds SrO-CaO-Al2O3-ZrO2, alternative CAC-free binding materials containing MgO, Al2O3 and SiO2, smart nano-structured hydraulic binders for nocement refractory castables, mechanisms of cement hydration, calorimetric studies of special
    inorganic cements.
  • Corrosion of refractories and ceramic materials: corrosion of refractories used in iron and steel metallurgy, non-ferrous metallurgy, foundry, lime industry, cement industry, glass-making industry and hazardous-waste and medical-waste incinerators, fundamental investigations on the high temperature corrosion of ceramics.
  • Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) study of oxide materials: monitoring hydration of CACs, strontium cements and alternative cement-free binders via electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and other techniques, modeling the EIS data with new equivalent circuits.
  • Advanced high temperature materials for gamma and neutron shielding applications: design of novel shielding materials, synthesis and characterization, structural properties of oxide ceramics.

Why Crystal Structure Matters: Decoding the Performance of Calcium Phosphate Biomaterials

In the world of calcium phosphate biomaterials, crystal structure is often the silent driver behind a material’s success—or failure. Whether we are developing bone graft substitutes or studying bioceramic interactions at the tissue interface, understanding the underlying crystal lattice isn’t just helpful—it’s essential.
