Dr. Sushil Kumar is an Early Career Researcher in the Metallurgical & Materials Engineering Department at Punjab Engineering College (Deemed to be University), Sector-12, Chandigarh-160012, India. (https:// www.pec.ac.in). 

Presently, He is doing his research under the Ministry of Human Resources and Development (MHRD), Government of India (GoI) funded project to established a research centre entitled with sub theme- “Transparent Ceramics Materials and Technologies” at Chandigarh region under scheme National Initiative for Design Innovation “Design Innovation Centre (DIC-MHRD)”, (Starting Date of the project- Sept 2015- Ongoing).

His doctoral research is part of a DIC-MHRD funded project related to the synthesis of Yttria (Y2O3) based nanopowders for Polycrystalline Transparent Ceramic (PTC) applications and understanding the structural, thermal, morphological, optical, and electrical properties. Sushil is actively involved in the research area of synthesis of polycrystalline materials, REE doped nanostructured materials and their processing, sintering of ceramics, PTC materials electro-optic and mechanical properties for medical imaging, microchip lasers and display device applications. His research interest also lies in Bio-ceramics and REE doped TBC coatings, their causes, and remedies by surface coatings such as HAP, ZnO, ZnO-Al and Er, Eu, Y2O3 and YAG, etc.

He is an active member of the American Ceramic Society (ACerS), UK Ceramic Chapter, TFI Network+ Transforming the Foundation Industries-UK, International Association of Engineers (IAENG), Universal Association of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineers (UAMAE), and the Young Ceramists Network (YCN) representative Ceramic Society of India. Sushil was the Co-ordinator of Ph.D. Placement and Research Activities in the Department of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, PEC-Chandigarh from July 2014-July 2019. He is selected as a Mentor by the PCSA ACerS committee-USA and the University of Bristol-UK for their student mentoring program from January 2022 to December 2022.

He was rewarded by the American Ceramic Society (ACerS) Travel Grant to attend Electroceramics Summer School and International Conference Electroceramics XVI at the University of Hasselt; Belgium-Europe from 06th -07th July; 2018.

ACerS is offering travelling grants of 1.500 $ to attend the two 2024 ECerS Summer Schools

The grants can be allowed to undergraduate, graduate, and Ph.D. students from non-European based universities. The 2024 ECerS Summer Schools will be held prior to Electroceramics XIX (Vilnius, Lithuania - School: 17-18 August 2024)  and Shaping 9 (Warsaw, Poland - School: 24-25 September 2024)!

2024 ECerS International Ceramist Student Exchange Program – 3rd call!

In the frame of the 2024 ECerS International Student exchange program, ECerS is opening a third call, this time to allow grants to European Students to attend the 2024 Fall meeting of Korean Ceramic Society (COEX) that will be organised by the Korean Ceramic Society in Seoul, Korea, from 16th to 18th October 2024.
