YCN Newsletter 27 - YCN Committee member - Welcome to Aleksandra Milojkovic

It is a true honor to introduce myself as the new Committee Member of the Young Ceramists Network.

My name is Aleksandra Milojkovic, and I am currently a PhD candidate at the Technical University of Munich. My research focuses on wirelessly powered magnetoelectric core-shell nanoparticles designed for neural stimulation, which have the potential to be used in the treatment of neurological disorders such as Parkinson’s disease and tremors. This work bridges materials science and biomedical research, as these particles are evaluated in vivo using mouse models.

My journey with ECerS began at the conference in Lyon in 2023. Like many wonderful opportunities that have come my way, I first owe a big thanks to Prof. Vladimir V. Srdic for recommending the conference. Little did I know that it would completely reshape the path of my PhD. At a time when I was feeling lost and uncertain about my direction, I found myself immediately welcomed into the friendly and supportive environment that the European Ceramic Society offers. I was amazed at how easy it was to connect with brilliant scientists from all over the world regardless of their age. I attended alone, but returned to Germany full of new ideas, valuable connections, and—very importantly—a renewed confidence in my career choice. My passion for research had returned for good.

Later, at the YCN Writing Retreat, I began considering a more active role in the Society. Still, I couldn’t quite believe that something like this could be possible for me. Then came the ICACC conference in Daytona Beach, where I decided I had to give it a try.

Now that I have the opportunity to be a Committee Member, I promise to give my best to every task given. At the same time, I look forward to learning more and growing this community together.

So, here’s a small reminder to everyone: give it a try, you never know where it might lead. For me, it led to something big.

Sincerely,

Aleksandra
