YCN Newsletter 22 - YCN Workshop 2024 short report from Marija Kovač

YCN Workshop 2024 short report from Marija Kovač from the participant's point of view

The YCN workshop „Writing Retreat “ in Tampere, Finland, was an inspiring and useful event for me. As a young researcher at the beginning of my career, it was helpful to get a lot of information and knowledge that will improve my writing. The main things that I learned from the Workshop are how to be more productive in writing, how to structure the writing process, tools for better writing, important things about the publishing process and the uses of AI in scientific research. The writing time was inspiring and gave me space to think and improve skills without interruption, which is very difficult to achieve in everyday life with tasks that we need to manage. Discussions I had with participants were inspiring and very helpful, because we talked about different experiences, so I learned a lot through these conversations.

The location was, in my opinion, perfect for this workshop, with its beautiful nature, peace for writing, inspiration for thinking, writing and relaxation. All lectures were interesting with the most important information to help researchers improve themselves in scientific writing and publishing of research papers. The most interesting lectures for me were about optimizing the learning process and scientific writing from the perspective of editors, where I learned how to develop my style, improve writing and structure research papers to be more interesting and understandable for readers.

This workshop was an important event for improving general knowledge about scientific writing and I believe that it will bring a better quality of writing in future papers of Workshop participants.

Why Crystal Structure Matters: Decoding the Performance of Calcium Phosphate Biomaterials

In the world of calcium phosphate biomaterials, crystal structure is often the silent driver behind a material’s success—or failure. Whether we are developing bone graft substitutes or studying bioceramic interactions at the tissue interface, understanding the underlying crystal lattice isn’t just helpful—it’s essential.
