Title of the talk: Application of thermal and environmental barrier coatings on hotter parts of aero-engines using EB-PVD technology

     

   

Dr. Ravisankar Naraparaju is Group Leader at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), Institute of Frontier Materials on Earth and in Space in Cologne, Germany. He specializes in thermal and environmental barrier coatings, with a strong focus on CMAS resistance, oxidation protection of UHTCs, and high-temperature material performance for aerospace applications.

With over 85 publications, more than 1,100 citations, and 7 patents, he has made significant contributions to the design and characterization of advanced coating systems, bridging fundamental materials research with practical solutions for next-generation turbine and propulsion technologies.

He plays an active leadership role in the scientific community as one of the symposium organizers at ICACC (Daytona Beach) and the HT-CPM conference, and will serve as the next chair of the ECI Thermal & Environmental Barrier Coatings Conference to be held in Irsee, Germany, in 2027.

Dr. Naraparaju has supervised 7 PhD researchers and over 10 Master’s theses, and has built extensive collaborations with leading universities across the US and Europe, fostering international partnerships and advancing aerospace materials research.
