Engineer/Doctor in Ceramic Materials
The Belgium Ceramic Research Centre (BCRC) is a research centre in the field of ceramic materials, active in cutting-edge projects at both national and European level.
We are looking for a Materials Engineer/Doctor who will strengthen our team and contribute to the advancement of knowledge in the field of refractory and clay products. We encourage all candidates, including those with no previous experience, to apply.
Responsibilities:
As a Refractory Materials Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out research and development projects in the field of refractory and clay products. More specifically, your tasks will be to design and formulate these materials, shape them using innovative techniques such as 3D printing and lead laboratory experiments, including characterisation under service conditions using equipment operating at high temperatures.
Main tasks:
· Design and formulate innovative refractory materials in accordance with project specifications
· Leading laboratory experiments, including handling laboratory equipment and preparing samples
· Master the use of heavy equipment, in particular for the manufacture of concrete by 3D printing
· Carry out in-depth analyses of experimental results
· Write technical and scientific reports, attend conferences and keep up to date with scientific advances in the field.
Skills required:
· Master's degree or doctorate in materials science
· Ability to work in a team
· Ability to use heavy equipment (for shaping concrete using 3D printing)
· Ability to write in French
· Written and oral communication skills in English
Desired skills :
· Written and oral communication skills in Dutch
· Previous experience in the field of civil engineering materials or ceramics highly appreciated

2025 ECerS International Ceramist Student Exchange Program – 3rd call!
In the frame of the 2025 ECerS International Student exchange program, ECerS is opening a first call to allow grants to European Students to attend the 2025 International Symposium on Green Processing for Advanced Ceramics (IGPAC 2025), organised by the Ceramic Society of Japan, from 5th to 9th October 2025 in Ise-Shima/Mie, Japan.
Next Deadline to apply to the JECS Trust for Mobility projects is 31st August 2025!
Please note that the decisions of the JECS Trust board will not be known before end of October 2025. Activities submitted for the deadline of 31st August 2025 for support from the JECS Trust should then not begin before November 2025.
