Report on the Shaping 9 Conference and Summer School
The 2024 edition of the Shaping 9 Conference and Summer School was organized by ECerS and the Polish Ceramic Society at the Warsaw University of Technology in Poland, from 25th to 27th September 2024.
The program aimed to enrich the knowledge of the participants, widening their perspective on selected topics related to ceramic shaping processes and allow them to expand their network getting in contact with experts in the respective and related fields.
Some numbers about the conference:
• 137 participants from 27 countries
• 84 oral presentations presented on 3 parallel sessions
• 27 posters presentations
• 15 Invited speakers and 2 plenary speakers: Martin Trunec and Rodrigo Moreno
Prior to the Shaping 9 Conference, a Summer School on " How to shape ceramic ideas into real products - laboratory excellence versus industrial needs " was organised on 24th and 25th August at the Warsaw University of Technology.
It was a great opportunity to learn more about selected topics related to ceramic shaping processes but also to exchange ideas with colleagues and lecturers taking part in the School.
Some numbers about the School:
• 42 participants from 17 countries
• During the School, 9 lectures were given by 9 internationally renowned scientists who shared their experience: Chang-Jun Bae, Catherine Elissalde, Marek Grabowy, Rodrigo Moreno, Martin Schwentenwein, Michael Stuer, Martin Trunec, Anna Wieclaw-Midor and Zbigniew Wozniak
To facilitate the participation of young researchers, 12 travel grants of up to 350 € were sponsored by the JECS Trust for young researchers, members of ECerS, attending both the summer school and conference.
The Shaping 9 conference & School were sponsored by the JECS Trust.

2025 ECerS International Ceramist Student Exchange Program – 3rd call!
In the frame of the 2025 ECerS International Student exchange program, ECerS is opening a first call to allow grants to European Students to attend the 2025 International Symposium on Green Processing for Advanced Ceramics (IGPAC 2025), organised by the Ceramic Society of Japan, from 5th to 9th October 2025 in Ise-Shima/Mie, Japan.
Next Deadline to apply to the JECS Trust for Mobility projects is 31st August 2025!
Please note that the decisions of the JECS Trust board will not be known before end of October 2025. Activities submitted for the deadline of 31st August 2025 for support from the JECS Trust should then not begin before November 2025.
