What is the recipe for successful achievement? To my mind there are just four essential ingredients: Choose a career you love, give it the best there is in you, seize your opportunities, and be a member of the team. I was thrilled to learn that I have received a grant from ECerS with financial support from the JECS Trust, to attend and participate in the Winter Workshop organized by The American Ceramic Society ACerS virtually on January 28‐29, 2021.
A wonderful meeting was held between students, researchers, and scientists from all over the world, where progress and perspectives in the area of ceramics were exchanged. Beyond the sharing and discussions that covered a variety of topics in the field of ceramics, although we were remotely set up, the workshop felt very welcoming because of the additional social dimension it covered.
The experience, broader knowledge, outstanding expertise, and the tips of the researchers took all the group to dive deep into ceramics making the whole process a very fun and enjoyable experience. I felt that I learned a lot in just two days because of the large amount of information that was available to us. In particular, the workshop was an ideal opportunity to build new relationships with students and young professionals. I would highly recommend this workshop to anyone in the ceramic community and beyond!
Thanks to everyone for sharing their expertise and experience and engaging in such fruitful, constructive, and open exchanges throughout the two days of the workshop. I would like also to express my gratitude and appreciation to the JECS trust for giving me the opportunity to attend such a high-level group meeting. Last but not least a special thanks to my colleague, the committee member of YCN, Antonia Ressler through whom I discovered this workshop.
