Address : Via del Cotonificio 108 33100 Udine Italy

Research topics :

  • Production and characterization of traditional ceramics: blends of the starting powders are made using also waste derived products.
  • Advanced ceramics and composites for bones substitution: fabrication and characterization of ceramics and/or ceramic matrix composites starting from powders synthesis.
  • Production and characterization of cement based materials containing waste derived products: preparation, curing and characterization after short, medium and  long  time aging of the monoliths containing cement, natural aggregate, additives and different amounts of waste derived products
  • Production and characterization of  geopolymers obtained by alkaline or acidic treatments: mixtures of metakaolin, sodium silicate and 8M sodium hydroxide solutions also containing waste derived products have been prepared and characterized in our laboratories; their performances were compared to waste free productions. Geopolymers were also prepared by mixing metakaolin and phosphoric acid solutions. The properties of the resulting materials were tested and the influence of the P/Si ratio on the performaces of the consolidated product were investigated.
